Some Highlights and Memories

I think Daddy knows now that it's a good thing to follow your heart and do what you believe in.  You get one shot in at this life.  How we treat ourselves and others, whether or not we live by what we believe:  those are things that paint the ultimate picture of who we are.

For me, music is like a highway I've been on for most of my life.  The scenery is often spectacular.  Sometimes the road gets really rough and I've blown more than a few tires along the way.  But I've had the opportunity to share the bill with some greats, such as Earth, Wind and Fire, Elton John, Bette Midler, The Beach Boys, The Village People, Ziggy Marley, Aretha Franklin, James Brown, Bonnie Raitt, Peter Yarrow, Jackson Browne, BB King, The Spinners, Jay Leno and more.  I've played for some of my icons, like Nolan Ryan and Jim Guercio.  I've worked in the studio and shared the stage with some big stars who deep down were and are just wonderful folks, like John Denver, Carole King, Maria Muldaur, Tracey Nelson, Sara Hickman, Gretchen Peters, Jon Ims, and Rodney Dangerfield.  I've made music with folks nobody has ever heard of outside their 15 minutes of fame, but they're some of the finest and most inspiring people I've had the good fortune to know.

Best of all, I think I finally learned a couple of things about humility and ability, and I am grateful every day that I still get the chance to do what I love, and share some of what I’ve learned and some of these blessings with others just like me who hit town for the first time wondering where - or if - they'll fit in.
